How to Crochet - V Stitch

Hello my lovelies! Welcome back to my blog. We've long completed the beginner lessons & we've now moved on to simple patterns that use the stitches we have learnt so far. In case you haven't seen the beginner lessons, you can find them all right here.

We'll be looking at the V Stitch today. It's a very simple stitch that uses only dc & ch. I recommend using contrasting colors for each row so that the chevron pattern is visible more clearly.

I'm using Laura Knitting Cotton, a 3ply cotton yarn, in teal & red, along with a 4.00mm hook.

To begin, ch in multiples of 3. For this tutorial I have chained 24.

Skip the first 3 chains, in the 4th chain from the hook make "dc, ch 1, dc". That's our very first V Stitch.

Now skip 2 chains, into the next chain make another V - that is, "dc, ch 1, dc"

Continue working this way, *skip 2 ch, V in the stitch* till the end of the row. If you counted right, you should have 2 chains left in the end.

Make one dc into the last chain.

Cut of color 1 & attach color 2 with a dc into the last dc of row 1

In row 2, make 1 V into each ch 1 space.

At the end of the row, make 1 dc into the last stitch (top of ch3 we skipped at the beginning of row 1)

Keep repeating this row as long as you want. Alternate the colors, you can use as many colors as you wish. This is how my piece looks after 9 rows.
