Hello friends! How are you doing today? I'm loosing track of days and time cause of this pandemic! And the only thing that's keeping me sane is crochet. Today I'll be sharing one of my favourite patterns. After speculating for a long time, I've decided to call her Princess Anastasia! She measures a little over 5 inches.
~ Crochet Terms Used ~
MC ~ Magic Circle
FC ~ Foundation Chain
Ch ~ Chain
SC ~ Single Crochet
HDC ~ Half Double Crochet
DC ~ Double Crochet
V ~ Increase , 2 sc in the same stitch
A ~ Invisible Decrease, sc 2 together
Sc*tog ~ sc ‘*’ stitches together
Sl st ~ Slip Stitch
PM ~ Place Marker
FO ~ Fasten Off
FLO ~ Front Loop Only
BLO ~ Back Loop Only
~ You'll need ~
for the doll
Yarn – Schachenmayr Merino Extrafine 120 – shade - 00105 kamel [Fingering weight yarn/16 wpi]
Hook – 2.00mm
Synthetic doll stuffing
for the hair & clothes
Crochet Cotton Size 10
Tatting thread – size 40 (for hair strands)
Hook – 1.50mm
Kindly take the time to check your gauge before starting. Since this is such a small project the slightest of differences will affect the overall doll.
Fingering Weight Yarn with 2.00mm hook:
* Back & forth in rows - 10 sc x 10 rows = 1.25 inch square
* In the round – 6sc x 10 rounds tube = 1.5 inch long tube [without stuffing]
Crochet Cotton Size 10 with 1.5mm hook:
* 9sc = 1 inch
* 9rows = 1 inch
~ Pattern Notes ~
(please read them first)
* The entire doll is worked in the black loops in continuous rounds unless mentioned otherwise.
* The doll is worked wrong side out.
* Once we start working in continuous rounds the pattern only has numbers.
* The numbers without any symbols (V,A) denote even stitches. You work 1 sc in each stitch* The numbers with a V denote increases. You work 2sc in each stitch.* The numbers with a A denote decreases. You work 2sc together.* The number before the V & A denote how many times you need to increase or decrease.Example: “3, 2A, 3”. This means - make 1sc in each of the next 3 stitches, [sc 2 together] x 2, make 1sc in each of the next 3 stitches.
* I prefer invisible decreases as they do not leave a bump on the project.
* The number in brackets at the end of each round are the total number of stitches you must have. I recommend counting each round before going to the next round. Mark the beginning of each round with a contrasting piece of thread.
* The hands and legs are too small to be stuffed. Stuff the body and head as you go.

FO leaving a long tail. [We will use it to sew the hair cap onto the head]
1. Cut the thread about twice the length you want the hair to be. [pic 11]
2. Attach the hair with a sl st.
3. Place the hair cap onto the doll’s head and position it properly.
4. Secure it in place with a pin.
5. Sew around the edges. [pic 12]
Pics 11 & 12 |
Alternatively, you can also attach the hair as you do the cap. Fold the hair strand in half and place it just behind the stitch you are going to work into. Insert the hook into the stitch and the hair loop and make an sc trapping the hair in the stitch. You can find the video tutorial here. Sew the cap on as mentioned above.
Now you can style the hair anyway you want to. Once you are happy with the style trim the hair neatly.
Dress & shoes:
The dress is worked in 2 parts. The basic dress form and the sleeves are made separately and sewed on.
